Umberto Bonavita, partner at Robert Allen Law, served as lead counsel to the Buyer of the 44.5-metre Sanlorenzo super yacht known as “Kamakasa”. The transaction, which closed on August 7, 2023, is the culmination of months long negotiations involving technical matters, and cross-border legal, structuring, and other complexities. This is yet another example of a high-stakes superyacht transaction involving a broad range of jurisdictions (including the Cayman Islands, France, Italy, the United States, and certain Asian jurisdictions) led by Mr. Bonavita and successfully concluded for the Buyer. In addition to Mr. Bonavita, Robert Allen Law team members included attorney Roberto Rodriguez-Allen and senior yacht paralegal Julie Dunham.
